In the early1870's Denverites began to migrate to a suburb 3 miles east of Denver which they called Harmon. Still standing today at Fourth Avenue and St. Paul Street, a town hall was built in this small thriving agricultural area. Early Denver architect, Temple Buell foresaw the future and in 1925 purchased the acreage next to Cherry Creek. Buell took note that the increased use of automobiles was shifting Downtown shopping to outlying areas and in 1946 announced that he would build a shopping center on his land. After struggling for years to accomplish his dream, construction was finally completed in 1953. Denver Dry Goods stood on the south side of First Avenue and Sears Roebuck on the north. In 1955 a tunnel was built to accommodate shoppers so that could safely travel between the two areas. Soon this exclusive area gave way to farms and small homes and became "the place to live" and this trend continues today.

Today this luxurious enclave is the spot to see and to be seen.
